Spirit of Reiki
What is Reiki?
Reiki is a gentle, non-invasive form of healing that promotes stress reduction, pain relief and over-all better health of the entire being: mentally, physically, spiritually and emotionally. Traditional Reiki was developed in Japan by Mikao Usui in 1922. The word REIKI comes from two Japanese words, REI and KI. REI translates to “Guided” and KI translates to “Life Force Energy”. A Reiki Practitioner offers this healing energy to a recipient by the "laying of hands", while the recipient receives the healing where they need it.
Is Reiki a religion?
No. Reiki is not a religion or a religious practice. It is a spiritual practice. Reiki Practitioners come from a wide variety of religious and non-religious backgrounds.
How is a Reiki treatment given?
The client remains fully clothed and is asked to either lie down on a massage table or be seated in a comfortable chair. The practitioner will place their hands in various positions, on or over the clients body. Typical positions are at the head, shoulders, arms, stomach, back, legs and feet. Treatments last between 30 minutes to an hour.
What does a Reiki treatment feel like?
What one feels during a Reiki treatment varies from person to person. If you are sensitive to energy, you may feel heat or tingling in the area being treated. Others may not feel anything physically, but in either case, recipients generally come away feeling deeply relaxed with a strong sense of overall well-being.
If I learn Reiki but don't use it for a long time, will I lose it?
No, but when you start again, you may not feel the energy at first. You might have to re-establish a connection and strengthen it again.
Will learning Reiki help me to heal myself?
Although Reiki can help improve your health in physical, emotional and spiritual ways, Reiki is intended as a complimentary approach to general health care and well-being. It should not be used as a replacement to medical care or treatments, nor to postpone seeing a doctor for a medical condition.
What is Practical Reiki?
Practical Reiki is a new Reiki modality for anyone who wishes to easily and quickly learn and practice Reiki energy healing for themselves and others. It is a combination of Traditional Reiki and Kundalini Reiki. There are no rituals or symbols used in Practical Reiki and the entire method can be learned in just three sessions.
Can I become attuned to Practical Reiki even though I'm already a Traditional Reiki Master?
Yes. Practical Reiki will widen your knowledge and strengthen your connection to the healing energy. Practical Reiki works with the same healing energy as Traditional Reiki and Kundalini Reiki, but does not use symbols and takes less time to activate.
Can Reiki be combined with alternative therapies?
Yes. Reiki compliments other treatments methods such as massage, acupuncture, polarity therapy, etc. and helps to achieve a deeper profound healing.
Can nurses receive continuing education hours when taking Practical Reiki classes?
